Transgender and Nonbinary Health

Led by Dr. Breslow, we are working with an interdisciplinary team of providers and patient stakeholders at Montefiore Medical Center to improve integrated, comprehensive care for transgender and nonbinary patients in the Bronx. Dr. Breslow was just awarded a four-year, $650,000 K23 award through National Institute of Mental Health, titled ‘Mapping Interventions to Reduce Mental Health Services Disparities among Transgender and Nonbinary Adults’ (12/15/2021 - 11/30/2025).

eSTORY Center for Early Screening and Treatment of At-Risk Youth

Led by Dr. Benjamin Lê Cook and Dr. Philip Wang at Cambridge Health Alliance, The eSToRY Center is dedicated to early detection of mental illness and improving quality and access to mental health care.

COVID-19 Pandemic & Mental Health

The PRIME CHE team has worked on multiple projects related to the pandemic. Led by our alum Dr. Sriya Bhattacharyya, the Crane Project is a living art installation that connects the community and Montefiore associates in order to explore the impact of COVID-19 and to provide an avenue for community healing, honoring the lives we have lost. More information about the Crane Project can be found here. Dr. Bhattacharyaa also leading Asians* Unmasked, a Photovoice project capturing the xenophobia and discrimination in wake of the pandemic. School-Based Adolescent Health Intervention

Led by Dr. Caryn Rodgers, we are conducting intervention work promoting health in middle school classrooms working to build community resources and resilience.

Emergency Health Services

Partnered with NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, we are working to improve safety and health equity in emergency services in the Bronx, primarily targeting psychiatric care in the emergency room and a more robust referral network to address co-occurring crises in substance use and mental health.

Work to Reduce HIV Stigma and Criminalization

Led by Dr. Aaron Breslow, we are analyzing data from national databases to measure and mitigate the impact of HIV criminal laws among people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.
